Word of God Christian Fellowship Represents the Growing Edge of BCNE’s Multiethnic Church Network

Neptali Rondina preaches the unvarnished, evangelistic gospel on Sundays at Word of God Christian Fellowship, one of many immigrant congregations in the growing BCNE network of multiethnic churches.

An excellent example of a congregation that represents BCNE’s growing edge is the multiethnic Word of God Christian Fellowship that Neptali Rondina has been leading since May 14, 2017. The Filipino American immigrant church serves recent arrivals from the Philippines, individuals and families who have found their way to Metrowest Boston and those who have lived near the region’s largest city for generations.

People from several cultures gather Sunday mornings for worship at the BCNE Multiplication Center in Northborough, Massachusetts. They meet in the main floor conference room while New Rice Memorial Korean Baptist Church meets at the same time in a forty-seat chapel on the lower level.

The co-pastor, who is known as “Dong,” keeps busy with two full-time jobs, and he enjoys both with equal enthusiasm. For twenty-six years, he has been employed as Assistant Vice President/Branch Manager at Middlesex Savings Bank; he graduated in 2010 from the New England College of Business and Finance. For the past nine years, he has been pastor of the church that now counts between sixty and eighty people of all ages in worship.

“I enjoyed both jobs, actually. I’ve been telling my members and the people I know that I am not working as a part-time pastor. There is no such thing as a part-time pastor. If you’re in the ministry, it'’s a full-time ministry because, wherever you are, you can always represent God, represent Jesus.”

Word of God Christian Fellowship youth have participated in BCNE Youth Encountering Christ (YEC) retreats. (Top right) Youth Pastor Rhaniel Borja.

The growing church has many young families, with adults in their 30’s and 40’s, a youth group that is involved in BCNE activities including the annual Youth Encountering Christ retreat, an active women’s ministry, as well as programs for senior adults and children.

A Church With “A Global Heart”

Administrative Pastor Angelito Mutia also serves the multigenerational congregation, which is known for having “a global heart” and for preaching an unvarnished gospel with an evangelistic thrust. The web site states that “We are a Bible-based church that believes in the Trinity, who are redeemed, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to reach out to others and make disciples of Christ.”

Rondina, who has been preaching lately on discipleship, chose as his favorite Bible verse Colossians 1:28, which names Jesus Christ as “the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.”

Nancy Mutia, a Sunday School Teacher at Word of God Christian Fellowship, leads the Children’s Hour during a worship service.

Word of God Christian Fellowship started with nine families in the Massachusetts towns of Littleton and Holliston until they found a larger place to gather on the campus of Framingham State University. They chose Framingham because, at the time,  it was centrally located for a majority of their members and, as the pastor says, “birds of a feather flock together.”

Rondina, who is 54, and his wife, Regina, are parents of three children and grandparents of two. Their youngest son, Abed, has been the pastoral intern since 2024 at Hope Chapel, Sterling, Massachusetts.

Dorsett called Rondina, who was BCNE’s president in 2020-2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic, “a great example of a strong lay leader who accepted a call to ministry and now pastors an excellent church. We need a hundred more laymen like him to become pastors just like he did.”
