One of my favorite pastimes is listening to podcasts. I love that I can listen to them while I go about my daily life. I’m often listening to something while I’m in the grocery store, folding laundry, or going on a walk. I can even say that a podcast helped to lead a spiritual revival for me and a lot of the women I know.

Light of the world

I love living in New England. I love the history, the ocean, the people. But there’s one thing that I just do not like. I hate that in the winter the sun goes down so early and the days are so short. I find myself really looking forward to the Winter Solstice. It may be the shortest day, but I know from that day forward each day will get a bit longer and include a little more daylight. It’s a bit easier to face the shorter days, when I know we are one step closer to spring and sunshine.

Like many of you, my heart has been broken to see the Southern Baptist Convention all over the news the past few weeks regarding the sexual abuse investigation. While it hurts me to see the denomination painted in such a negative light, it pains me even more to think of the abuse and suffering that has been allowed to go on for so long.

I love and hate adoption

I have a huge heart for adoption. I think I always have. One of my dearest childhood friends was adopted from foster care. She opened my eyes to the beauty of adoption even as a young child. Now as a mother to four girls, two of which are adopted, I find myself often surrounded by it. Many of my friends have adopted. I read books about adoption. I help guide families going through the process. It is a big part of my family’s everyday life.
