Come over to Europe and help us

The Bible records how the Gospel was first preached in Europe. While on his second missionary journey, Paul had a vision of a man from Macedonia (modern Northern Greece), who called out to him, “Come over and help us!” And Luke the physician, wrote, “. . .we immediately looked for a way to go to Macedonia, because we were convinced that God had called us to tell the people there the good news.” (Acts 16:10)

A modern-day Macedonian call

We have received a modern-day Macedonian call. Leaders of the International Mission Board have called on the churches of the Baptist Convention of New England to “Come over to Europe and help us!” Like much of New England, European countries have post-Christian cultures. And because New England pastors and church planters labor in similar cultural contexts, we have been asked to partner with IMB missionaries and indigenous European pastors engaged in starting new churches in Europe.

New England leaders have a vast amount of experience serving in a post-modern culture. Scores of New England pastors speak fluent Portuguese, Spanish, or French. And some of the finest, most experienced, and gifted church planters in North America are serving here in New England.

Could God be calling you to “come to Europe and help”?

On March 2-9, 2021, Dr. Terry Dorsett will lead a group of New England pastors, church planters, and mission leaders on a vision tour to Europe. We will travel as a group to London and meet with IMB strategy leaders for the European Affinity. From there pastors will deploy to one of several destinations in Europe. In each location, pastors will meet IMB missionaries and indigenous church leaders, hear their vision for reaching their cities for Christ and learn about their partnership needs.

Right now we are gathering a team of pastors and church planters to attend this Vision Tour. If God is stirring your heart to “come over to Europe and help,” please let me know right away that you’re interested by emailing me at staylor@bcne.net.

Sam Taylor serves as the Boston area regional coordinator at the Baptist Convention of New England.
