IN PERSON TRAINING #1 - Saturday, March 28 (Casa de Oracion, Worcester)

9:00 am - Illuminate the Messiah in Your Ministry & See Kids Light Up Their World (Jan Smith)

In a world full of lies and uncertainty, God has called you to empower kids to reflect the light of Christ and discover how to shine brightly for Him. Let’s find out kid-friendly ways to teach kids to know the Light, Jesus, and illuminate His truth everywhere they go.

10:00 am - Workshop #1 (45 minutes)

VBS Director’s Confidential (Jan Smith)

Leadership can feel isolating—but you don’t have to lead alone. Join us for a confidential, collaborative huddle where directors can learn key ways to inspire their teams, strengthen relationships, and bring people together with purpose. Expect practical takeaways, shared wisdom, and encouragement for the journey.

Multi-Age VBS (Melva Davidson)

When space, volunteers, or class sizes are limited, combining age groups for Bible Study can be a bright idea! Join us as we walk through what a multi-age VBS classroom can look like. You’ll learn how to plan for mixed ages, adapt activities, and build meaningful connections that help older kids and younger kids learn in the same class.

Sharing the Gospel (Sandy Coelho)

In this session we’ll talk about how to maximize the opportunities VBS provides to share the gospel—whether in Bible Study, crafts, or while eating a snack! Join us as we discuss trusting the guidance of the Holy Spirit in gospel conversations at VBS.

11:00 am - Workshop #2 (45 minutes)

Effective Ways to Engage All Kids in Learning (Melva Davidson)

This session will focus on training and equipping volunteers to work with any child who needs extra support. Learn how to be the calm, consistent light that helps every child engage and thrive.

Discipling on the Go: How to Disciple the Family Who Is Always Moving (Jan Smith)
With families busier than ever, how can we effectively disciple those constantly on the go? We’ll unpack practical methods—from intentional event planning to organic discipleship opportunities—to help families grow in their walk with Christ.

Guiding Behavior at VBS (Sandy Coelho)

VBS brings energy, excitement—and the unexpected. This session equips volunteers and leaders with practical tools to guide behavior, adapt to group dynamics, and create a calm, Christ-centered environment where kids can stay focused on Jesus.

12:00 pm - Plenary Session: Engaging the Whole Church in VBS (Sandy Coelho)

Discover how every member of your church can play a meaningful role in VBS. In this session, we’ll explore how to effectively communicate the vision for VBS and share practical, actionable ways for people to be involved.
