BCNE: Greater Boston

Metro Boston church leaders, your regional coordinator Joe Souza is here to support you and your ministry.

A letter to Boston area church leaders

You serve on the front lines of one of the most influential, yet least evangelized cities in America. God is using you to push back the darkness and help advance the Gospel all across Greater Boston. You are our heroes!

But ministry in Greater Boston can be very hard. You face a spiritually hostile, post-modern culture; a lack of workers to help; a shortage of suitable meeting spaces; and an extremely high cost of living.

The good news is that you are not alone. As the Greater Boston regional coordinator, I am your local, boots-on-the-ground connection to the BCNE. And I am here to assist you in three ways: partner, equip and encourage.

Building partnerships

There is an army of missions-loving churches who are ready to partner with churches and church plants in Greater Boston. These partners can provide manpower for almost any ministry event: prayerwalking, sports camps, VBS, remodeling, community improvement, ESL and even new church construction! They may pray, send teams and, in some instances, provide financial support. Partnerships are vital to the success of new churches and bring new life and energy to established churches. Pastors, as your BCNE Regional Coordinator, I can serve as a liaison between your church in Greater Boston and partner churches across the Southern Baptist Convention. (If you’re interested in requesting a mission team or partnership, let me know by filling out this form.)

Equipping church leaders

I connect Boston-area pastors and leaders to resources they need to build vibrant churches. The BCNE has an arsenal of valuable tools and resources: educational scholarships for pastors; relevant, state-of-the-art seminars and customized training; affordable accommodations for mission teams; grants for evangelism and outreach; and funds for international mission trips. Pastors, I am here to connect you to these resources and help make your ministry more fruitful!

Encouraging pastors

Ministry in New England is challenging, and pastors need encouragement! One of the best ways to do this is by providing opportunities for pastors to enjoy fellowship with one another. As your Boston Area regional coordinator, I host regularly scheduled pastors gatherings. These gatherings (usually luncheons) are affinity-based: pastors who share common cultural or ministry contexts meeting together for fellowship and prayer. I also love to visit churches on-site and develop supportive, one-on-one relationships with pastors.

Summing it up

Pastors and church planters in Greater Boston, as your BCNE regional coordinator, my job is to partner, equip and encourage: I will introduce you to mission partners; I will equip you with resources you need; and I love to encourage you as you serve on the front lines of a challenging mission field. I look forward to hearing from you!
