SAFETY & SECURITY RESOURCES
The safety of children and youth is a nonnegotiable priority for the Baptist Convention of New England. As part of our ongoing efforts to increase safeguards that protect children, we strongly encourage all of our churches to use the following resources and take necessary action steps to become more secure.
Safety & Security Training
BCNE Safety and Security Video Training
This four-part series is designed for church leaders and volunteers who work with children and youth. Each video has a corresponding resource sheet and includes a 10-question quiz. You will receive a certificate of completion after receiving a score of 80% or higher on all four video quizzes.
The Southern Baptist Convention has put together a training curriculum including 12 videos from top experts that are designed to help churches know how to respond well and care for victims after an initial report of abuse.
Developing a Plan
We expect that all mission teams working with children or youth, as well as the church hosting the team, will be trained in children’s safety. We offer training resources here.
We also expect that every individual working with children or youth have a valid, up-to-date background check. Scroll up to the background check section for potential background check services.
Hosting churches are responsible for ensuring that safety training and that background checks have been completed according to any applicable local or state law.
