Finish Strong!

The end of the year is just days away! Are you ready to finish this year strong and begin the new year with renewed enthusiasm and vigor? I have not been one for making resolutions, but I am in favor of reflecting and reviewing what the past year has been and then making plans and laying the foundations for the new year to come!

Here are some questions I use in my time of evaluation, review and planning.

Reflection & Review

Personal

  • What are the ways I connected with God personally?

  • How did I see God move in my personal life this year?

  • What are three personal things I can thank God for this year?

Family

  • How did I honor my family this year?

  • What are meaningful ways that I personally connected with family this year?

  • What are three things about my family I can thank God for this year?

Ministry

  • How did God move in ministry this year?

  • How did God use me in ministry this year?

  • What are three things about ministry I can thank God for this year?

Planning & Preparation

Personal

  • What are new ways God is inviting me to connect with Him this new year?

  • How I can be more consistent in my time with God in the new year?

  • What are places I desire to see God move in my personal life this next year?

Family

  • How can I make deeper spiritual connections with family members in the new year?

  • How I can be more consistent in my family time in the new year?

  • How can I pray more effectively for my family members this next year?

Ministry

  • How can I more consistently and effectively serve the volunteers in my ministry in the new year?

  • What is a new thing that God is inviting me to do in the new year?

  • Who is God inviting me to engage with this year in ministry?

  • What are some areas of improvement that need to happen this year and how will I lead out in addressing this with my team?

By taking the time to examine what you did well, you will be able to celebrate the wonderful things that God did in your life and ministry this year. With the celebration should come a time of dreaming, planning and asking God what He wants to do in the new year. Find a quiet space and let God’s voice speak to you and lead your time of planning and preparation for the new year.

Grab a new journal and enjoy the journey with God as He maps out for you a new and exciting year of ministry. Happy New Year!
