Quest is a leadership development opportunity for high school students during their junior year. The Quest experience includes the following phases:
RecommendationsYouth ministers, leaders or senior pastors locate students who fit the profile and age requirement and fill out an online recommendation by May 1. Request more time if needed.
Application Process Recommended students will be mailed the Quest Application in the spring along with a deadline. Those who complete the application process will be assigned to the Quest Bible study group(s) during CrossWalk.
CrossWalk youth camp, August 6-11, 2018During CW, prospective Quest students are assigned to the Quest Bible study group and spend a portion of their afternoon learning about the foundations of Quest. Students participate in team building, spiritual gifts and servant leadership. Jesus on Leadership is the core curriculum used.
Selection Process, late AugustFollowing CrossWalk, the faculty will make selections for the Quest team. Selected students will be assigned to one of several teams. Students will locate a mentor, apply for a passport and complete their first assignments.
Questie & Parent Cookout, Labor Day The Quest Faculty will host a cookout for newly named Questies and their parents. The day includes a parent information meeting, as well as a meeting for the newly named Quest teams.
Fall Retreat, Columbus Day weekendQuest students will spend the weekend working on group building. Cultural studies, drama and worship will be the core of the retreat. The weekend retreat cost is covered by the Quest mission offering given at CW.
Prep & Pray and YEC, JanuaryQuest students are expected to attend Prep and Pray on a Saturday in mid-January and YEC, during the last weekend of January. A commissioning time for the Quest team will be included during YEC.
Team TripsThe four teams will travel to their selected countries in February, when many New England schools have winter break. Quest 18 teams will travel to the Dominican Republic, South Africa, Scotland and Hawaii and should plan on holding the dates of February 12-23, 2019. A post-trip celebration will be held on the Saturday following the teams' returns.
Post Trip Debrief and The MergeA post trip debrief will be held in the spring. In addition to debriefing the team trip, Questies will be challenged to apply the Quest experience through their senior year through The Merge.
CostCost is $2300, depending on the team assignment and flight costs. Each student will be expected to earn a minimum of $500 due on Labor Day. The rest can be obtained through the local church support and personal fund raising and due by Dec 1.
Who should be recommended?- Students who will complete their sophomore year in June.- Growing Christian- Involved in the local church and youth group- Demonstrates a potential for leadership- Grade point average of 2.75 or higher- Able to attend all Phases.
When and how should the student(s) be recommended?- Contact the student and their family about Quest.- Confirm that the student meets the criteria and is able to attend all Phases. - Complete the recommendation and return it to Allyson at the BCNE by May 1.- Congregations who recommend students to Quest also commit to help support them financially.If you have specific questions please contact Allyson via email.
