On June 19 the BCNE Board of Directors affirmed and agreed to a formal Missional Linkage agreement between the BCNE and the Eastern Associations of the Canadian Convention (Quebec eastward through the Maritime / Atlantic Provinces). This was announced at the Canadian National Baptist Convention (new name of the former Canadian Convention of Southern Baptists) on July 1, 2008.

WHY "MISSIONAL LINKAGE"?
This is the first time the BCNE has ever initiated a formal "partnership" style agreement outside our pioneer area. Given the great God designed similarities between our Convention and the Maritime Provinces both in style of work, pioneer nature and stretched resources both by economics and geography, it was apparent to all that God desired a new relationship be struck. Unlike a regular "partnership" which many times is the promise of one stronger state convention or association to provide to a lesser entity, this is to be a strongly reciprocal relationship of support mostly predicated on prayer.
HOW TO LINK WITH CANADA
There are three ways to link with Canada:

  1. Participate in Canada's Encounter Canada Initiative. This is a bold plan that started in late 2007 and extends to 2010 of prayerwalking and exploring up to 2000 communities across Canada. A church or several Christians could take any length of trip (2 days to 2 weeks or more) to engage in a community. Go to Encounter and look for locations in eastern Canada.
  2. Adopt a Church. We are encouraging churches to adopt another church over the border for mutual support, encouragement and prayer. As the Lord leads, your church may decide to have pastors exchange pulpits or to eventually send teams to come and visit or serve in short term mission projects. If you would like to enroll, just This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to add you to our list by Sept. 30, 2008. We'll exchange our list of interested churches with Canada and allow you to prayerfully pick out a church from that list in November.
  3. Participate in training and enrichment opportunities. The BCNE will publish trainings, workshops, and seminar events going on in Canada and visa versa. We would also encourage churches and associations to use E-quip , Canada's leading internet based training tool.
