Frequently Asked Questions...

Frequently asked questions:
Q1. When do I register for a course?
A1. You can register on the first day of the class. You can save money if you send your payment postmarked not later than the Friday one week prior to the first day of class. Please come early! See Question 5 below.

Q2. When are the course fees due?
A2. Registration is now done online. For new students, phone 1-800-626-5525 and ask for Lisa Shaw and ask her for the procedure to register.
Late fees are applied if you fail to pay on time! Present course fees are $316 per credit hour. Southern Baptist students pay half price. (spouses pay half again). Most courses are 3 credit hours. If you have not previously registered, there is a one-time application fee of $35. Each semester there is a $40 enrollment fee. NOTE: Please bring a check or cash to pay for overnights and media/admin fee ($10 per course). Students are responsible to purchase their own textbooks. Dr. Beevers will send you a copy of the syllabus, which will list the textbooks. If you have trouble locating the textbooks, contact Dr. Beevers and he will help you to locate them.

Q3. Are scholarships available?
A3. Yes, there are some limited scholarship funds available on the basis of need and availability of funds. No scholarships are given new enrollees for the first course, but after that a student may apply. Some scholarship funds are available to help with the costs related to on-campus requirements so the costs of travel do not become burdensome. 50% of course fee is maximum scholarship.

Q4: Are there facilities for staying overnight?
A4: Yes, for a small charge ($50 for five overnights or $37.50 if you bring your own linens) you can stay overnight on Friday nights at the Rice Lodge next door. We expect to be assured of overnight space in our facility. Each course generally runs for 5 weekends (except Greek and Hebrew are 6 weekends)

Q5: Must I complete the application process before beginning classes?
A5: No. Even if you have not completed the requirements for admission, you may begin classes. The Center Director will ask you to sign a Special Student Agreement form and pay a one-time application fee of $35. You are then given until the end of the semester to complete the application process. What does application process involve? The application form, a two-page autobiography, recommendations from three individuals, affirmation by your church, and furnishing the Seminary with an official copy of your transcripts. Note: It is recommended you complete the application before beginning classes.

Q6: Any other questions? Contact Dr. Beevers
