Ministry Evangelism- Meeting Needs is a high impact way to introduce hurting people to Jesus Christ.

Every week, all across New England, evangelism is taking place in schools, hospitals, community centers, prisons and through churches. There are about 14 million people throughout our 6 New England states who have no personal relationship with Jesus Christ. There are several passages of scripture that should direct us to understanding Ministry Evangelism:

“How shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without someone to tell them?” (Rom. 10:14)

“It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Jesus Christ; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend those lives in helping others” (Eph. 2:10, TLB)

“They offer superficial treatments for my people’s mortal wounds. They give assurances of peace when all is war” (Jer. 6:14, NLT)

“It is he who saved us and chose us for his holy work, not because we deserved it but because that was his plan” (2 Tim. 1:9, TLB)

In their book, Meeting Needs, Sharing Christ, Charles Roesel and Donald Atkinson define ministry evangelism in simple terms. It is caring for people in the name of Jesus Christ, meeting them at their point of their need, and ministering to them physically and spiritually. To explain the connection of caring for people and the gospel message, the workbook, His Heart, OurHands, quotes Steve Sjogren, the author of Conspiracy of Kindness. Sjogren uses the term “servanthood evangelism” to describe what he calls an invasion of society through incarnational ministries that combine personal evangelism with a genuine spirit of Christlike servanthood (see page 3).

Our BCNE Evangelism teams desires to help churches experience or develop and implement ministry-based evangelism opportunities that reflect community needs and engage the local church in building relational bridges over which members intentionally share the gospel. Ministries are numerous that are bringing the love of Christ to hurting communities and are the conduit for the communication of the gospel to thousands.

Some types of Evangelistic Ministries that can be built to reach a target people group in your area:

    1. Literacy (ESL)
    2. Hunger related (soup kitchens and food closets)
    3. Prison
