In order to be prepared for the many specialized tasks involved in Disaster Relief recovery, volunteers need to be effectively trained. Between how to operate equipment, the proper steps used and employing adequate safety measures, this isn't your average volunteers showing up to lend a hand. Volunteers need training. We'll utilized untrained volunteers, but people are far more able to be used if they are trained.
Disaster Relief New England provides specialty training events each Spring in several locations. There are numerous smaller trainings that are set up in various locations with a focus on basics or one particular specialty. Lastly, there are spontaneous trainings that are set up in the wake of and during a disaster response. In all three cases, those events will be promoted through our DR Events Page as well as Constant Contact emails and our Facebook accounts (both below).
