As a local branch of the Southern Baptist Convention, we believe there is great spiritual value in being connected to a denomination. The spiritual covering, accountability and fellowship that flow from that connection are important.
Churches should value denominational connections because we are called to live in unity for a cause larger than ourselves (John 17:23: Rom. 15:5; Eph. 4:3, 13; Col. 3:14), while reaching out to others to impact the region in which we live and serve (Luke 13:34; John 11:52; Acts 2:44, 46; 1 Cor. 1:2; Eph. 3:6). We can fulfill these biblical mandates more effectively as a group of churches working together than we can when each church operates in isolation.
In addition to the spiritual benefits of being part of a denomination, there are also practical benefits to belonging to the Baptist Convention of New England. While we must be cautious about the consumer Christianity mindset that always asks, "What's in it for me?" - we recognize that when a church is exploring an alignment with an organization, questions asked with good intentions are legitimate.
We are seeking to bind together evangelical, Gospel-centered, mission-minded churches throughout New England so that God's people will be propelled forward in Kingdom work. Thank you for considering a possible partnership with us.
