Here is a list of current prayer requests submitted by associations and church planters. It was last updated on August 7, 2007 Greater Boston Baptist AssociationHyannis, MA: Pastor Mike Alford is planting the Mid-Cape Community Church. He reports that their second preview service had about 35 in attendance. He asks for continued prayer for committed people to join the core group of the new church. Saugus, MA: Pastor Emmanuel Fontaine is planting the Grace & Faith Baptist Church, a multi-cultural church. He praises God for a building in the Somerville area, and asks for continued prayer as they build their core group and begin meeting on Sundays. Lynn, MA: Pastor Paul Biswas is planting a Bengali church in Lynn. He asks that we pray for an interfaith dialogue to be held with Hindus on September 22, and for more opportunities to share about the Muslim and Hindu faiths. He also asks that we pray for housing for he and his wife as the place they currently live will be sold in the next few months. Pastor Paul is continuing to ask for prayer that he can find a car he can afford. Boston, MA: Pastor TJ Odom is planting Trinity Church near the Boston College campus. TJ and Dena thank you for your prayer for their support raising trip. It was very successful. He asks for prayer for a successful fall outreach. Boston, MA: Pastor Nathan Creitz of The Church at the Gate, ministering to the Boston University campus, was married in July. He asks for prayer for him and his new bride as they begin their life together. He also asks for prayer as he begins seminary this fall. Finances and time management are major hurdles he must overcome. Charlestown, MA: Pastor Josias Souza is planting Celebration Church, a multi-ethnic church. He thanks you for your prayers for his immigration status. He has now received his green card for permanent residency! Green Mountain Baptist Association (Vermont)Pawlet, VT: Church planters Lyandon and Kim Warren are planting the Mettowee Valley Church. They praise God for the 32 people that attended the launch service on May 6, and three people that were saved in the service. Continue to pray for the birth of their first child, and the nurturing of the three baby Christians that God has given them. See the article and prayer requests in the "News and Info" section of church planting page. Bennington, VT: Lee Williams and Bobby Austin are planting the Capstone Baptist Church. The church owns an historic old building in town. Pray that they can finish the costly renovations necessary this summer as work groups come to help them. Barre, VT: Trey Cates and Terry Dorsett lead the Faith Baptist Church. They thank you for your prayers for the purchase of their new building. Although the closing was delayed once, they now own the new building. Pray that renovations can be complete by the second anniversary of the church, which is in about six weeks. Northfield, VT: Planter Trey Cates has been prayerwalking and utilizing mission groups in preparation for a church plant. He asks prayer specifically for the two new SBC families that have moved to Northfield, that they would become the core of a new Bible Study. He also asks for prayer for his wife, Robin, that her teaching license can transfer from NC so that she can teach in the public schools. Rutland, VT: Pastor Eugene Williams leads the Marble Valley Baptist Church. He asks prayer for his sons as they look for work. He also asks that we pray for new leadership in his church body. Massachusetts Baptist AssociationWorcester, MA: Pastor Noel Williamson is restarting the Pleasant Street Baptist Church. He asks that we pray for friends in the neighborhood for him and his wife and their children. He also asks for prayer for someone to head up their children's ministry. Worcester, MA: Pastor Martin Lutero Bezerra is planting the First Mighty Fortress Baptist Church. He asks for wisdom and strength as he leads his mission church. He also asks prayer for wisdom as they seek to sell their house. Worcester, MA: Pastor Gilson Silva pastors the Primeira Igreja Batista de Worcester. He asks you to thank God for the four baptisms he performed in July, and asks that you pray for these new Christians to mature in Christ. He also asks prayer for his family's finances, as they must sell their house in a very slow market. New Hampshire Baptist Association Manchester, NH: Pastor Matt Hasty is planting the Grace Haven Baptist Church. He asks for prayer for specific individuals that their church has touched: Bill, Kelley, John and Susan. He asks for wisdom and patience in dealing with difficult challenges in his neighborhood.
Southeastern New England Baptist Association Newport, RI: Pastor Luis Lopez is planting Bethesda Baptist Church, an Hispanic church. He asks that we pray for the spiritual needs of his church members, and they they would mature in their faith. Pastor Luis is concerned about the immigration status of several of his church members, and asks for prayer that all issues would be resolved. Oakdale, CT: Planter Terry Frazier is beginning the process of planting the Chapel Hill Baptist Church. He looks toward a launch at Easter of next year. Pray for him as he leads groups to prayerwalk the area, and as he looks for ways to get involved in and serve the community. Maine Baptist Association Standish, ME: Pastor Brad Taylor pastors the Mt. Hope Baptist Church. He asks for prayer for a meeting location so that they can begin ministering to their community seven days a week. |
