Leading the Sunday School/Small Group ministry
The
church has asked you to be the Sunday school director. Your role is to
lead the staff of volunteer Sunday school teachers, department
directors and other officers to do several things on a weekly basis.
The Sunday school leaders will prepare Bible study lessons for the
members of their classes and lead the Sunday school sessions. Greeter
teams will welcome people to the classes, coffee and donuts may be made
available. Someone will count the number of attendees and a secretary
will record the weekly attendance report. At some point, there will be a
need to order the set of curriculum materials for the next quarter
or teaching cycle.
But
is there more to your job? Who takes care of the issues of
coordination of classroom usage, fixing broken teaching equipment,
ordering crayons for the children's department? There are probably a
dozen other tasks that could be mentioned.
But
in a well-organized Sunday school ministry, there will be volunteers
who will be up to these tasks when enlisted, trained and mobilized. You
may need some additional resources to understand all there is
to leading the Sunday school minstry. You can do it. We are here to
help you!
