Hunger is no respecter of geography or ethnic group. It can be felt in an apartment in Eastern Europe, a cardboard shack in Central America, a tent in the Sahara, or a house in Vermont.
Southern Baptist missionaries and volunteers are offering nourishment for the body and soul. And every Southern Baptist can have a part in those ministries through gifts to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund.
While Christ-followers, including Southern Baptists, are doing something about hunger in the U.S. and around the world, we could be doing a lot more. In fact, we can be assured that God expects us to do much more. He expects us to demonstrate an urgency to pray, to give, and to minister on behalf of those who are hungry--both physically and spiritually.
When will you get personal about hunger? If we take God's Word seriously and observe the financial pressures in our nation today, then malnourished and hungry people are our problem. Those who are afflicted were made in the image of God. He cares about them, which means we are to care about their welfare as well.
VIDEOS FOR PROMOTING THE OFFERING:
100% of ALL monies donated go directly to food for hungry people!
Many of our churches fail to keep in mind and promote our international
and North American hunger relief fund in preference for para-church
ministries that attempt to do the same. There are key issues for
impacting hungry people through the love of Christ Jesus in the support
of this fund that must be remembered, promoted and supported:
How Is My Dollar Spent?
When a dollar is contributed to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund, the offering will be divided 85% to the International Mission Board for overseas hunger projects while 15% is sent to the North American Mission Board to support hunger projects in the United States (which includes New England) and Canada. Because personnel and volunteers are already in place, and promotional expenses come through other budgets... 100% of your gift is used to minister to the hungry in Jesus’ name.
How to Give…
We encourage churches to collect through the whole month of October or
specifically on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011. Churches designate their collection to the "World Hunger Fund" in a separate check sent with their regular CP giving. If you are a member of a Southern Baptist church, make your World
Hunger Fund gift by placing it in the offering plate of your church with
"World Hunger Fund" on your
check or offering envelope.
When your offering is received, please mail a check to:
